Basketball Recap: Canyon Ridge Takes a Loss

Canyon Ridge lost against Madison back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Canyon Ridge Riverhawks took a 71-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Madison Bobcats. Even though they lost, the Riverhawks' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.2 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite the loss, Canyon Ridge still got an impressive performance from Mason Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards. Hill has been hot, having posted eight or more rebounds the last eight times he's played. Dylan Brown was another key player, putting up ten points.

Canyon Ridge has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Madison, they pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

Canyon Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-53 defeat against Rigby on the 31st. As for Madison, they will challenge Highland at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Madison knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Highland likes a good challenge.
