Basketball Recap: Carver High School of Engineering & Science vs. String Theory
After a string of seven wins, Carver High School of Engineering & Science's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 61-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of String Theory. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Carver High School of Engineering & Science came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the are ranked 414th).
Despite the loss, Carver High School of Engineering & Science still got an impressive performance from Tali Simpkins, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Fareed Brown, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Even though they lost, Carver High School of Engineering & Science were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as String Theory only racked up eight assists.
String Theory got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jason Pezzetti out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Pezzetti is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 12 games he's played. Justus Robertson was another key contributor, scoring 24 points.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-4. As for String Theory, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carver High School of Engineering & Science will take on the at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for String Theory, they will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Penn Wood is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
