Recap: Cherokee County Warriors vs. Sand Rock Wildcats
It was a good run, but the Cherokee County Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Sand Rock 39-34. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cherokee County of the 51-44 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2022.
It was another big night for Katelyn St.clair, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds for Sand Rock. That makes it four consecutive games in which St.clair has scored at least a third of Sand Rock's points.
Cherokee County's loss dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Sand Rock, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherokee County will challenge White Plains at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sand Rock will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fyffe at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Fyffe will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Sand Rock is ranked 87th).
