Baseball Game Preview: Jefferson Grizzlies vs. South San Francisco Warriors

For the second straight game, Jefferson will face off against South San Francisco. The Grizzlies will venture away from home to face off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with 21 straight losses, while South San Francisco will come in with ten straight victories.

Jefferson fell victim to South San Francisco and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Warriors, falling 15-0. The shutout was out of character for the Grizzlies seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

For South San Francisco's part, Giovanni Bernal made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Bernal has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Vince Bernal was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Emilio Oseguera was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

South San Francisco kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.

South San Francisco's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-17.
