Basketball Recap: Diego Martinez and Anthony Colonna Secure Win for Independence

There's no place like home for Independence, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Sierra Linda Bulldogs by a score of 57-44 on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 63-61 back in January.

Leading Independence to victory were Anthony Colonna and Diego Martinez. Colonna went 5-for-8 to rack up 19 points and four steals, while Martinez dropped a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Martinez a new career-high in boards. Javon Mcclanahan was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Independence smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Independence pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.3 points over those games. As for Sierra Linda, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.

As of now, neither Independence nor Sierra Linda have any future games scheduled.
