Baseball Recap: Stevenson Finds Home Field Redemption Against King City

There's no place like home for Stevenson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on March 4th. They put the hurt on the King City Mustangs with a sharp 9-2 victory on Thursday. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Phinn Thomas and Jacob Hall were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Thomas struck out ten batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Hall pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those ten strikeouts gave Thomas a new career-high. At bat, Thomas scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Hall scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was Hall's first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Bucich, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Tono Borgomini, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Stevenson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as King City only posted a batting average of .160.

The win got Stevenson back to even at 2-2. As for King City, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Stevenson and King City will both be playing Everett Alvarez the next time they take the field. The Mustangs will head out to face the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
