After a string of 14 wins, Inspiration Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Montverde Academy Eagles by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since March 22, 2024.

Elle Hildreth put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, Aubrey Osborne made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Inspiration Academy's loss dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Montverde Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season.

Inspiration Academy and Montverde Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Lions (ranked 13th) will meet Clearwater (ranked 151st) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Montverde Academy will square off against Foundation Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (2 vs. 104).
