Baseball Game Preview: Cane Bay Cobras vs. Lucy Beckham Bengals

For the second straight game, Cane Bay will face off against Lucy Beckham. The Cobras will be playing at home against the Bengals at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cane Bay is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

On Monday, Cane Bay needed a bit of extra time to put away Lucy Beckham. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Bengals. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Cobras as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

For Lucy Beckham's part, Hunter Doyle was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. The Bengals are 4-2 when Doyle allows one or fewer earned runs, but 6-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Hank Aeppli was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Lucy Beckham: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Byrne, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Lucy Beckham's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Cane Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.
