Softball Recap: Rogers Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

Rogers had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Middletown on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers stepped up to hand the Islanders a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Vikings have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Rogers has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Middletown, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rogers will face off against rival Paul Cuffee at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Vikings' favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Paul Cuffee have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Middletown is set to square off against their familiar foe Exeter-West Greenwich at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
