Basketball Game Preview: Chippewa Chipps vs. Triway Titans

The Chippewa Chipps will challenge the Triway Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chippewa has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Triway will arrive with five straight wins.

Chippewa is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Norwayne on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chippewa was outmatched by Norwayne and fell 64-29. While losing is never fun, the Chipps can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Bobcats are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, Triway won against Manchester on Friday with 73 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. Triway walked away with a 73-64 victory over Orrville.

Triway pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.4 points over those games. As for Chippewa, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.

Chippewa and Triway were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in December of 2018, but Chippewa came up empty-handed after a 64-63 defeat. Can Chippewa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
