Softball Game Preview: Mt. Gilead Indians vs. Northridge Vikings

The Mt. Gilead Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Northridge Vikings at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mt. Gilead has given up an average of 11.8 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Northmor hit Mt. Gilead with a nine-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Indians lost 12-5 to the Golden Knights. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trinity Schrote made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hayleigh Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Northridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against Heath, falling 18-10.

Mary Cate Spang was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Karisa Miller, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs.

Northridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Mt. Gilead, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Mt. Gilead suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Northridge when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
