Baseball Recap: Piedmont Hills Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Piedmont Hills had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Oak Grove on Tuesday. The Pirates were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Eagles. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Piedmont Hills got a great performance from JT Tagud as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Tagud a new career-high.

At the plate, Josh Gomez was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Donte Butler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Piedmont Hills is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Oak Grove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Piedmont Hills will have a chance to go back-to-back against Oak Grove: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
