Baseball Recap: Chaparral Has No Trouble Against Wichita Defenders Homeschool

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kingman, Chaparral was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wichita Defenders HomeSchool Defenders with a sharp 14-2 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Roadrunners' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Conner Hostetler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Chaparral is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6-1 otherwise. Hostetler was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ty Hadsall was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Daxton Hostetler was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Chaparral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Chaparral's win bumped their record up to 6-7-1. As for Wichita Defenders HomeSchool, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Chaparral beat the Defenders by a score of 15-4 later that day.
