Softball Game Preview: Bountiful RedHawks vs. Hunter Wolverines

For the second straight game, Bountiful will face off against Hunter. The RedHawks will square off against the Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Bountiful is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Hunter a 4-0 shutout. Four seems to be a good number for the RedHawks as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Ella Miller made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kamryn Rasmussen, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Bountiful hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hunter struck out 12 times.

The victory (which was Bountiful's third in a row) raised their record to 25-4. As for Hunter, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-16.

Hunter's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bountiful has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Hunter, though, as they've been averaging 9 hits. Given Bountiful's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolverines will need to find a way to close that gap.
