Albuquerque High School Football Rankings

Who's up and who's down

Even if things were shuffled around here and there, the power rankings for this week won't seem too unfamiliar if you've been following along. Don't let that fool you into thinking nothing interesting happened, though. A special shoutout goes to Miyamura's senior Matt Chavez, who scored eight total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.

No Margin for Error

The Belen offense has been a force to be reckoned with this season, and last week was no different. It can thank its lucky stars for its win over Los Lunas. The final score was a hard-fought 35 - 34. 35 is shaping up to be Belen's lucky number as the team posted the same point total in its victory over St. Pius X the game before. The razor-thin margin made this game the most thrilling one of the week.

This Week's Top Game

On paper, the match between La Cueva (2nd in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Clovis (9th) looked as though it might be one of the more compelling ones, but things did not play out that way on the field. La Cueva had a great defensive game, holding Clovis to zero points to set up the 27 - 0 win. La Cueva had two big standouts, as junior Dylan Summer tossed the ball for 205 yards and two TDs, while junior D'andre Williams ran for 74 yards and also punched in one touchdown.

Rocket Boost

Durango will have a better view of things this week after its strong showing last week propelled it three spots up the power rankings. That was the biggest rise of the week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Harrison, finishing up at 45 - 0. Durango found its leader in an underclassman: Jordan Woolverton threw for 167 yards and one touchdown, which was enough to make him one of the team's best players.

Upcoming Drama

If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Atrisco Heritage Academy (11th in the MaxPreps state rankings) and Clovis (9th). This will be the second home game in a row for Atrisco Heritage Academy. We'll see if it can add another positive mark to its record or if Clovis can shake off its defeat and take the spring out of Atrisco Heritage Academy's step.
