Football Recap: Ponaganset's Undefeated Season over After Seven Games + How To Watch

If Ponaganset was riding high fresh off their 40-0 takedown of Rogers last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chieftains came up short against the Classical Purple on Saturday, falling 35-15. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Chieftains, who until this game were averaging 12.57 points allowed.

Despite the defeat, Ponaganset saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aiden Harrison rushed for 163 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries. Those 163 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Harrison.

The critical scores for Classical came from Coby Tavares, Tahmeed Moshood, Josiah Nyakoon, Silas Mckay, and Bam Adebayo.

Having lost for the first time this season, Ponaganset fell to 6-1. As for Classical, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Looking ahead, Ponaganset will venture away from home to challenge Pilgrim at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Chieftains will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.88 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Classical, they will be playing at home against Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' defense has only allowed 13.1 points per game this season, so the Purple's offense will have their work cut out for them.
