Baseball Game Preview: St. Ansgar Saints vs. Wapsie Valley Warriors

The St. Ansgar Saints will face off against the Wapsie Valley Warriors on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when St. Ansgar and Bishop Garrigan meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. The Saints came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Bears, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since June 20th.

Meanwhile, Wapsie Valley's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's third consecutive shutout on Saturday. They never let West Fork get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. Considering the Warriors have won nine games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Wapsie Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-6. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for St. Ansgar, their victory bumped their record up to 20-7.
