Baseball Game Preview: Chaminade Flyers vs. St. John the Baptist Cougars

Chaminade is 8-2 against St. John the Baptist since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Flyers will look to defend their home field against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. Chaminade's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so St. John the Baptist's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Chaminade is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New York's top teams: Archbishop Molloy, who was ranked eighth at the time (Chaminade was ranked 16th). The Flyers fell just short of the Stanners by a score of 4-3 on Saturday.

Chaminade got a good showing from Jack Pfeifer, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Pfeifer has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Chaminade saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Anicito, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that Anicito hit this season.

Meanwhile, St. John the Baptist came up short against St. Francis Prep on Saturday and fell 4-1.

St. John the Baptist's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Chaminade, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
