Softball Recap: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Pahrump Valley Trojans

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Fernley couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Pahrump Valley Trojans on Thursday, falling 13-4. The Vaqueros were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Isabella Leija was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Tollestrup, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fernley's loss dropped their record down to 26-11. As for Pahrump Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won 17 of their last 20 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-8 record this season.

Fernley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 10-8 defeat against Lowry on the 15th. As for Pahrump Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Virgin Valley on the 15th.
