Basketball Recap: Manteno Comes Up Short

After flying high against Lisle last Tuesday, Manteno came back down to earth. The Manteno Panthers fell 41-33 to the Streator Bulldogs on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 137th).

Manteno's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Streator, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Manteno will welcome Peotone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Peotone will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Manteno surely won't give up without a fight. As for Streator, they will face off against Seneca at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Streator has won four straight at home, while Seneca won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
