The Herron Achaeans will square off against the Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter Raiders at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Herron has given up an average of 9.1 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Herron managed to slip by Bethesda Christian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Achaeans lost 17-2 to the Patriots on Monday. The Achaeans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Herron saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kayla Page, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-1 win. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Raiders this season.
Riley Torres made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Torres was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Salimah Carson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Berkley Finke was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Scecina Memorial only posted a batting average of .200.
Herron now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-10.
