Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Bay Lightning vs. Coral Gables Cavaliers

The Cypress Bay Lightning will be taking part in a tournament against the Coral Gables Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Coral Gables took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Cypress Bay, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Cypress Bay turned things around against Plantation on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over the Colonels. Given the Lightning's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Colonels are ranked 336th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Coral Gables was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 54-49 to Doral Academy. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cypress Bay's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Coral Gables, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Everything went Cypress Bay's way against Coral Gables in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, as Cypress Bay made off with a 64-43 win. Does Cypress Bay have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coral Gables turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
