Softball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

Holmes fell victim to Currituck County and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 10-0 to the Knights. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 5, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Holmes saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Holmes' defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Currituck County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holmes will venture away from home to take on First Flight at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Currituck County, they will head out to square off against Deep Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 10.3 runs per game this season.
