Preview: Meadowcreek Mustangs vs. Discovery Titans
The Meadowcreek Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Discovery Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Meadowcreek pushed their score all the way to 57 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Gwinnett. While losing is never fun, Meadowcreek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while North Gwinnett is ranked 77th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Daron Sturdivant, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Adonai Mussie, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Discovery's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 21st straight defeat. They were dealt a 85-53 defeat at the hands of Berkmar. Discovery has not had much luck with Berkmar recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Meadowcreek has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Discovery, they dropped their record down to 2-22 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road.
Meadowcreek skirted past Discovery 48-45 in their previous meeting on Friday. Does Meadowcreek have another victory up their sleeve, or will Discovery turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
