Volleyball Game Preview: The Woodlands Highlanders vs. Caney Creek Panthers

The Woodlands has gone a perfect 7-0 against Caney Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Highlanders will challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. Caney Creek took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on The Woodlands, who comes in off a win.

The Woodlands took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Willis.

The Woodlands walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the third set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 19-25, 25-12, 25-16.

Ava Gibbs and JerMya Dickerson were among the main playmakers for The Woodlands as the former had 33 digs and seven assists and the latter had 20 assists and 15 digs. Gibbs has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 31 times she's played. Cate Vickers also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Meanwhile, Caney Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Willis, falling 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-13, 25-4.

Caney Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 13-21. As for The Woodlands, the victory got them back to even at 17-17.

Everything went The Woodlands' way against Caney Creek in their previous matchup back in September, as The Woodlands made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highlanders since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
