Baseball Game Preview: Poplarville Hornets vs. Gulfport Admirals

The Poplarville Hornets are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will challenge the Gulfport Admirals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Poplarville is headed out to face Gulfport after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Poplarville came out on top against North Pike by a score of 5-0 on Tuesday.

Brayden Lee was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Trac Smith was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday Gulfport sidestepped Pearl River Central for a 2-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Admirals.

Gulfport saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brant Rounsaville, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.

Poplarville might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Gulfport in their previous meeting back in February of 2016. Can Poplarville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
