Basketball Recap: Azusa Takes a Loss

Azusa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 54-42 to the Southlands Christian Eagles. The Aztecs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Azusa still got an impressive performance from Aaron Beltran, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Aundrae Ramirez, who posted eight points.

Azusa's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Southlands Christian, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Azusa will challenge Arroyo at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Southlands Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-27 defeat against Baldwin Park on the 20th.
