Basketball Recap: Pike County Comes Up Short

Pike County was the 48-46 winner over Westside when they last played one another back in January of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Pike County Pirates took a 52-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westside Seminoles.

Despite the loss, Pike County still got an impressive performance from Sadie Lewis, who posted 17 points and three steals. That's the most points Lewis has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Holmes, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Leading Westside to victory were Domonique Billue and Destiny Spencer. Billue almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards, while Spencer dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. Billue is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Nashiya Womack, who earned five points.

Pike County's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Westside, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Westside beat Pike County by a score of 69-35 on Wednesday.
