Basketball Recap: Monument Academy Comes Up Short

Monument Academy scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a blow against the Crescent View Academy Thunderbolts, falling 70-43. While losing is never fun, the Lynx can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 163rd).

Leading Crescent View Academy to victory were Ibraheem Zuraigat and AbdurRahman Alsane. Zuraigat dropped a double-double with 19 points and 11 boards, while Alsane almost dropped a double-double with 23 points and nine rebounds. Alsane's big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Abdo Badanagki, who posted eight points and five assists.

Monument Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Crescent View Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-1.

Looking ahead, Monument Academy will host Hanover at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Crescent View Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Non Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
