Preview: Belleville Mennonite Thunder vs. Columbia County Christian
Belleville Mennonite has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against Columbia County Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, Belleville Mennonite was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-47 to Meadowbrook Christian.
Meanwhile, Columbia County Christian put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They really took it to Juniata Christian for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-23 victory at home. Winning may never get old, but Columbia County Christian sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Columbia County Christian found their leader in underclassman Pierce Cughan, who scored 17 points along with six steals and five assists. Cughan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Clay Farley, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Belleville Mennonite has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Columbia County Christian, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4.
Belleville Mennonite lost to Columbia County Christian on the road by a decisive 51-36 margin in their previous meeting on Thursday. Can Belleville Mennonite avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
