Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Hoban Knights vs. Garfield Heights Bulldogs

The Archbishop Hoban Knights will challenge the Garfield Heights Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Archbishop Hoban sitting on four straight wins and Garfield Heights on eight.

Archbishop Hoban picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They walked away with a 75-63 victory over Olmsted Falls.

Archbishop Hoban got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Greer out in front who went 13-for-16 en route to 30 points in addition to seven boards and seven blocks. Greer's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenny Scott, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten assists.

Archbishop Hoban was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They are 21-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Garfield Heights rose to the challenge on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Bruins as they made off with a 64-41 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 21 points or more this season.

Archbishop Hoban's win bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Garfield Heights, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-2.

Archbishop Hoban came up short against Garfield Heights in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 52-43. Can Archbishop Hoban avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
