Baseball Game Preview: Putnam Kingsmen vs. Parkrose Broncos

Putnam is a perfect 9-0 against Parkrose since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Kingsmen will challenge the Broncos at 5:00 p.m. Putnam will be strutting in after a victory while Parkrose will be coming in after a defeat.

Putnam's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Centennial with a sharp 10-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Kingsmen.

Nolan Edwards made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grady Cram, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Ian Pollard was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Putnam was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Parkrose fell victim to Milwaukie/Milwaukie Academy of the Arts and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

Parkrose has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Putnam, their record is now 10-13.

Putnam took their victory against Parkrose in their previous meeting back in May of 2018 by a conclusive 17-0 score. Do the Kingsmen have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Broncos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
