Softball Recap: Valley Regional Beats Old Saybrook for Their Third Straight Victory

Valley Regional entered their tilt with Old Saybrook on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Rams. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 19, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Paige Williams spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Carley Spearrin was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Valley Regional's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Old Saybrook, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Valley Regional will square off against rival Hale Ray at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Old Saybrook is set to take on their familiar foe Cromwell at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
