Austin proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 21) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-59 win over the Akins Eagles. For the Maroons, this counts as revenge for the 43-39 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2025.

Austin has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Akins, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4.

Coming up, Austin will square off against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Akins, they will face off against Bowie at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 55.38 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
