 The Cox Falcons will head out on the road to  challenge  the Salem Sundevils at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Cox is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
 Cox has not done well against Bayside recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. Cox put the hurt on Bayside with a sharp  8-2 victory. Cox had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year.
  Ella Athey-Stapleton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off   five  hits (and not a single walk). Athey-Stapleton has been consistent recently: she hasn't  pitched less than five  innings every time she's  pitched this season. Athey-Stapleton was also stellar in the batter's box,  going 4-for-4 with a  home run, three  RBI,  and a  double.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Alexa Colon, who  went 3-for-4 with two  RBI and a  double.  Daisy Kriz was another key contributor,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-3.
 Meanwhile, Salem pushed their score all the way to ten on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a  tough 16-10 loss at the hands of Ocean Lakes.
 Cox's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Salem, they now  have a losing record at 0-1-1.
 Cox skirted past Salem  8-7 when the teams last played  back in May of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cox since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
