Football Game Preview: Tylertown Chiefs vs. Hazlehurst Indians + Official Tickets

The Tylertown Chiefs are taking a road trip to take on the Hazlehurst Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Keonnis Davis put forth a good effort for the losing side as he threw for 267 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 55 yards and one score. A healthy portion of Davis' aerial production (112 yards to be exact) went to Landon Thompson, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

While Tylertown came up short, they sure didn't make it easy for Presbyterian Christian: they limited their QB to completion percentage of just 47.6%. The team can thank Jordan Williams for the heroic effort on defense: he. Tylertown wasn't nearly as limited: they posted one of 66.7%.

Meanwhile, Hazlehurst never let their opponents score on Thursday. They blew past Crystal Springs 45-0. The game marked the Indians' most dominant victory of the season.

Tylertown better keep an eye on Brandon Haines. He was instrumental in Hazlehurst's win, rushing for 164 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. Haines has become a key player for the Indians: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontae Buie, who rushed for 91 yards on only eight carries.

The win made it two in a row for Hazlehurst and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 40.0 points over those games. As for Tylertown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-4.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Tylertown has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hazlehurst struggles in that department as they've been averaging 360.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
