Basketball Game Preview: West Florence Knights vs. Ridge View Blazers

The West Florence Knights will face off against the Ridge View Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for West Florence: they have been struggling with six straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Ridge View has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, West Florence had to suffer through a 71-13 loss at the hands of Blythewood. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Bengals are ranked third).

Gabreille Gunter was West Florence's leading scorer, having posted six points. Kara Fluharty held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Ridge View beat Spring Valley 77-73 on Wednesday.

West Florence better keep an eye on Anasia Harvey. She was instrumental in Ridge View's win, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. Harvey's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiya Carter, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 17 points along with five assists and three steals.

Ridge View was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Spring Valley only racked up eight assists.

Ridge View is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for West Florence, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

West Florence was dealt a bruising 86-31 loss at the hands of Ridge View in their previous matchup back in December of 2017. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Florence was down 47-17.
