Baseball Game Preview: Parkway South Patriots vs. Hazelwood West Wildcats

The Parkway South Patriots will head out to challenge the Hazelwood West Wildcats at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Parkway South is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Hazelwood West will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Parkway South extended their winning streak to three on Monday. The Patriots came out on top against Pattonville by a score of 10-7. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly three runs.

Jake Frenz tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits.

On the hitting side, August Johansen was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Andy Hertlein also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Parkway South always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

North County hit Hazelwood West with a ten-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats lost 16-5 to the Raiders.

Hazelwood West's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Parkway South, their record is now 8-5.

Parkway South was able to grind out a solid win over Hazelwood West when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 9-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
