Baseball Game Preview: Elite Eagles vs. Delta Saints

Elite hasn't had much luck against Delta recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will square off against the Saints at 4:00 p.m.

Elite came up short against Esparto on Monday, falling 10-4.

Meanwhile, Delta waltzed into their matchup on Monday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The game was the first time the Saints have beaten the Lions on their field since March 1, 2022.

Chase Parkinson made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cole Hutson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Delta: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Grayson Friend also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Delta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Elite's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Delta, their record is now 10-4.

Elite suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Delta in their previous matchup on April 9th. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
