Baseball Game Preview: Eminence Warriors vs. Western Hills Wolverines

The Eminence Warriors will square off against the Western Hills Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Eminence is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oldham County.

Tanner Simpson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Simpson was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Hayden Kuhn was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Western Hills gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 18-3 margin over Frankfort Christian Academy. The win was familiar territory for the Wolverines, who have now won six games in a row dating back to last season.

Like Eminence, Western Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Cole Semones. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Semones was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Western Hills let Noah Morris and Clay Devers run wild. Morris scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2, while Devers scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave Morris a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Owen Woodson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Western Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .676. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frankfort Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .389.
