Basketball Recap: Watkins Memorial Takes a Loss

Watkins Memorial was the 69-22 winner over Olentangy Orange when they last played one another back in November of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Watkins Memorial Warriors fell 50-39 to the Olentangy Orange Pioneers on Saturday. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Watkins Memorial still got an impressive performance from Shelby Lott, who went 8 of 18 en route to 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Lott has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Perry, who posted four points and 12 rebounds.

Watkins Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Olentangy Orange, they moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Watkins Memorial will be playing in front of their home fans against Lancaster at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Olentangy Orange, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-33 defeat against Worthington Kilbourne on the 30th.
