            Softball Recap: Plano Reapers vs. Newark Norsemen        
        
		
        
        
            Plano extended their losing streak  to five  on Friday, dropping their season record down to 6-17-1 in the process. They fell  8-3 to the Newark Norsemen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Reapers of the  16-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2024.
 Plano saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Taylor Downs, who  went 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases.  Annabelle Solis was another,  going 1-for-2 with two  RBI.
As for Newark, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-14-2. The  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 8.3 runs over those games.
On Newark's side,  Dottie Wood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned  (and two unearned) runs on three hits.
 On the hitting side,  Kate Bromeland was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with one  home run and four  RBI. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was  Rylie Carlson, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run, one  double,  and one  RBI.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Plano will face off against Harvard at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. As for Newark, they will challenge Somonauk at 4:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. The Norsemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 6.8  runs per game this season.
