Basketball Game Preview: Nokomis Warriors vs. Skowhegan River Hawks

The Nokomis Warriors will head out to challenge the Skowhegan River Hawks at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Nokomis turned things around against Messalonskee on Thursday. They greeted the New Year with with a 48-33 win over the Eagles.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skowhegan). They had just enough and edged Gardiner out 56-54. The River Hawks didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Nokomis' record is now 4-5. As for Skowhegan, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Nokomis ended up a good deal behind Skowhegan when the teams last played back in January of 2024, losing 46-32. Can Nokomis avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
