Football Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

If Washington was riding high fresh off their 43-21 takedown of Hillsboro last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Lions had to suffer through a 48-15 loss at the hands of the Miami Trace Panthers. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Lions in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Although Washington took the loss, they still got scores from Aden Osborne and Bryson Heath.

It was another big night for Julian Baker, who rushed for 268 yards and three scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry, and also picked up 99 receiving yards and one TD for Miami Trace. Baker was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards. Baron Phipps was another key player, throwing for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine passes.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Miami Trace, their record now sits at 9-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Washington will challenge New Richmond at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Miami Trace, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hillsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
