Basketball Game Preview: Patuxent Panthers vs. Huntingtown Hurricanes

Patuxent is 0-10 against Huntingtown since February of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Patuxent Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Huntingtown Hurricanes at 6:30 p.m.

Patuxent is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 27, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against McDonough, falling 53-31. The matchup was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly the Panthers struggled afterwards.

Patuxent's loss came about despite a quality game from Autumn Kern, who went 5 of 10 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kern a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, Huntingtown beat Calvert 44-34 on Friday. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 51st, while the Cavaliers are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Huntingtown's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for Patuxent, they now have a losing record at 4-5.

Patuxent lost to Huntingtown on the road by a decisive 48-32 margin when the teams last played back in January of 2024. Can Patuxent avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
