The Lovett Lions will be playing at home against the Kennesaw Mountain Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Lovett will be strutting in after a victory while Kennesaw Mountain will be coming in after a loss.

Lovett took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Chattahoochee 12-4. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lions needed considering they were shutout in their previous game.

Kaelyn Rolla made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Rolla was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Elizabeth Murray and Victoria Penake did most of the damage at the plate: Murray scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Penake scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Kate Dubord was another key contributor, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Lovett always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chattahoochee only posted an OBP of .318.

Kennesaw Mountain lost 9-1 to Etowah on Tuesday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

The win got Lovett back to even at 1-1. As for Kennesaw Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Lovett beat Kennesaw Mountain 5-1 when the teams last played back in August of 2019. Will Lovett repeat their success, or does Kennesaw Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
