Softball Game Preview: Perry Pirates vs. Lake Flyers

The Perry Pirates will square off against the Lake Flyers at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Perry 2.9, Lake 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Perry is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They skirted past Hubbard 3-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Pirates.

Sophie Sivon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Perry saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haylee Reed, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Eight must be Lake's lucky number: they beat Upper Sandusky with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Flyers beat the Rams by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 8-2. Considering the Flyers have won 17 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Perry's win bumped their record up to 23-5. As for Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 21-7.
