Softball Recap: Lapeer Wins Going Away Against Swartz Creek

Lapeer was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Swartz Creek on Saturday. The Lightning were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Dragons. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-3 last Saturday.

The result came thanks to Gabriella Speagle's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.

At the plate, Lapeer got a massive performance out of Breana Fantin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Walton, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Lapeer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Lapeer's record now sits at 11-19. As for Swartz Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Looking ahead, Lapeer will take on Gladstone in a tournament on Saturday. As for Swartz Creek, they will host Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
