Baseball Recap: Pallotti Wins Going Away Against Chapelgate Christian Academy

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Reservoir, Pallotti was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets with a sharp 11-1 win. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Yellowjackets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Everson Vaughan made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Pallotti is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 6-9 otherwise. Vaughan was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Steven Buckner was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Pallotti's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 7-1 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Makhai Barber was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Pallotti was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 5-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Pallotti's win bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pallotti will square off against Sts. Peter & Paul at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, they will challenge Beth Tfiloh at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
