Soccer Game Preview: Morgantown vs. Brooke

The Morgantown Mohigans will take on the Brooke Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Morgantown will be strutting in after a win while Brooke will be coming in after a loss.

Morgantown is headed in fresh off scoring the most goals they have all season. Their defense stepped up to hand John Marshall a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result kept Morgantown happy, as they haven't lost a game since September 2nd.

Meanwhile, Brooke was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against Cambridge, falling 5-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Brooke came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' soccer rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 90th in West Virginia, while Cambridge are ranked 487th in Ohio).

Brooke's goal came courtesy of Cooper Byers, which was the first he's scored this season.

Morgantown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those six contests. As for Brooke, their loss dropped their record down to 1-15.

Everything went Morgantown's way against Brooke when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Morgantown made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Mohigans repeat their success, or do the Bruins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
